    This position will require community organizing and policy work in the home-county of the staffer, but will also touch, as needed, other counties including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Riverside. A major goal will be to expand and to increase member action and public support for campaign finance, media, redistricting, and electoral reform as well as other issues.


    Organize members, allies, and educate the public and elected officials on issues.

    Develop and write public outreach materials including fact-sheets, action alerts, presentations and online updates.

    Must be able to recruit and coordinate leader-volunteers and plan regular member events throughout Southern California, especially in one’s home county.


    Experience, education and are/technical proficiency:

    Experience in community and political organizing or management of organizing strategy.

    Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

    Commitment to racial equity

    Strong technology skills with experience using MS Office and a membership database (CRM) such as VAN, Action Network, Nation Builder, or similar platform;

    Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and frequently changing priorities;

    Working knowledge and proficiency with social media tools including Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter.

    Must have own transportation and able to work some evenings and weekends

    Ideally you’ll have:

    Knowledge of political process, including understanding the connection between grassroots campaigns and the legislative process.

    Ability to motivate and work with volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.

    Community background and fluency in a second language used widely in California communities (e.g. Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, etc.)–strongly preferred.

    You’ll strive if you are/have:

    Familiarity with Common Cause issues including voting rights, redistricting, and campaign finance reform and strong commitment to the public interest;

    Experience as a trainer

    $55,000 – $60,000, plus generous benefits package
